Should I register the new .au domain name?

The body that controls domain names in Australia (auDA) has announced that .au domain pre-registrations will begin March 24th 2022!

What this means, is that you can register for yourcompany.au.  
You most likely already have yourcompany.com.au, or yourcompany.com

Should you do this?

Entirely up to you.  There are many domain name extensions out there.  E.g you might already own yourcompany.com.au, but have you also registered

• Yourcompany.com  (if you can get the yourcompany.com – we strongly recommend you secure this)
• Yourcompany.net.au
• Yourcompany.net
• Yourcompany.biz
• Yourcompany.info
• Yourcompany.co.nz
• The list goes on…

What happens if I don’t do this?

It is possible that someone else could register yourcompany.au.   This may or may not have an impact on your business (the decision is ultimately up to you!)
